Longer days, warmer weather, and blooming flowers - there is no denying that is Spring is finally here! The change of season brings many beautiful things, but it also comes with an unsightly side -- recently unearthed dog waste that had been buried in layers of snow. This phenomenon is not only occurring in backyards across Bozeman, but along the dozens of trail systems that are easily accessible to our community.
Cleaning up after your dog is not only a common courtesy, it can also help prevent the spread of bacteria and disease. Common internal parasites and bacteria such as tapeworms, giardia, and salmonella can all be spread through dog waste. Forgotten feces not only negatively affects our yards, parks, and trails - it can also contaminate our waterways.

GVLT has paired up with the City of Bozeman to create these fun, eye-catching signs posted on trails to remind dog owners to clean up after their four-legged companions. |
Proper disposal of pet waste is a part of responsible pet ownership and is also environmentally conscious. At Dee-O-Gee BZN our favorite products for eco-friendly waste disposal are Earth Rated Unscented Compostable Bags and the Stash Bag by Ruffwear. These bags unlike any other, they’re made from a vegetable-based alternative and can be composted where pet waste is allowed. The Stash Bag easily attaches to leashes and has a zippered pocket with an internal keyhook. Stop by and check out our favorites at both stores. Now get out there and get scooping!
